What is a chin implant?
A chin implant is a solid, soft silicone implant shaped to fit the front of the jawbone, placed through a small incision either inside the lower lip or in the crease under the chin. It adds forward projection and, if needed, width to a chin that is set back or small in proportion to the rest of the face. The procedure takes under an hour, the implant is permanent, and there is no visible scar when the incision is placed inside the mouth.
The chin sets the balance of the profile. When it is weak, the nose looks larger, the neck looks fuller, and the jawline looks soft, regardless of weight. Adding a few millimeters of projection changes all three at once, which is why chin augmentation is so often done alongside rhinoplasty or neck contouring, and why patients are frequently surprised at how large a difference a small implant makes.
Implants come in a range of shapes and sizes. Dr. Kluska selects the implant at your consultation based on measurements of your face, and it is fitted to the bone so that it cannot be felt or seen as an implant.
Is a chin implant right for me?
You may be a candidate if:
- Your chin sits behind a line drawn straight down from your lower lip
- You have been told your nose is large, but your chin is actually the issue
- Your jawline lacks definition even at a healthy weight
- You want a permanent result rather than repeated filler injections
- You are in good health and at least 18, with facial growth complete
Chin filler is an alternative for patients who want to preview the change or prefer a non-surgical option. It lasts about a year to eighteen months. An implant costs less over time and never needs maintenance. If your bite is significantly misaligned, a jaw surgery consultation may be more appropriate than an implant, and Dr. Kluska will tell you.
How chin augmentation is performed at Aesthetic Arts
Intraoral (inside the mouth). An incision inside the lower lip, where it meets the gum, gives access to the chin bone. A precise pocket is made and the implant is set directly against the bone. The incision is closed with absorbable sutures. No external scar. This is the approach used most often.
Submental (under the chin). A short incision in the natural crease beneath the chin. Used when chin liposuction or a neck lift is being done at the same time, since the same incision serves both. The scar sits in the crease and fades to nearly invisible.
Implant selection. Anatomic implants extend along the jawline for a smooth transition; central implants add projection only. Dr. Kluska chooses shape and size from measurements and photographs at your consultation and confirms the fit during surgery.
What to expect
Surgery is performed in our surgical center in Commerce, GA, accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
Your consultation
Complimentary, at any office. Dr. Kluska measures your profile, discusses implant options, and shows you before and after photos. If a nose or neck procedure would improve the result, he will explain why and let you decide.
Preparing for surgery
Stop aspirin, ibuprofen, and blood-thinning supplements two weeks before. Stop nicotine four weeks before. Arrange a driver.
The day of surgery
Surgery takes 45 to 60 minutes under local anesthesia with IV sedation. You go home the same day with a light compression dressing or chin strap.
Recovery timeline
Nothing heals symmetrically or all at once. Rest with your head elevated, follow your instructions closely, and expect the timeline to vary somewhat from patient to patient.
- Day 1
The dressing is removed the next morning. The chin strap is worn day and night for two to three days, then as directed. - Days 2 to 5
Swelling and tightness; the chin may feel numb or stiff when smiling. Soft foods and gentle mouth rinses if the incision is inside the mouth. - Week 1
Most patients return to work. Bruising, if any, is fading. - Week 2
Light exercise resumes. Normal diet. - Weeks 6 to 8
Swelling is gone and the implant feels like part of the jaw. Final result.

Why patients choose Dr. Kluska for chin augmentation
Chin augmentation is a procedure of proportion, and choosing the wrong implant size is the most common reason for a disappointing result. Dr. Kluska measures the whole profile, not just the chin, and regularly combines chin implants with rhinoplasty and neck contouring so the three are planned together. Patients treated with chin filler by Dr. Kluska describe his work as “super natural and subtle,” which is the same principle applied to implants.

What Our Patients Say
★★★★★
Dr. Kluska is not only incredibly talented – he’s also just an amazing person. He was so kind, took his time answering all of my questions, and never made me feel rushed or judged. You can tell he genuinely cares and only wants what’s best for you. I had chin and nose filler done, and I’ve had so many people tell me I look great… but they can’t quite tell what’s different – and that’s what makes his work so special. It’s super natural and subtle, just the perfect enhancement. I’m so glad I went to him and honestly couldn’t recommend him more!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question that isn’t here? Ask us directly.
Is a chin implant permanent?
Yes. Solid silicone implants do not degrade and do not need to be replaced. They can be removed or exchanged if you ever want a change.
Will people be able to tell I have an implant?
No. The implant is fitted to the bone and covered by your own tissue. The change is in the profile, not in any visible edge or line.
Is there a visible scar?
When the incision is inside the mouth, there is no external scar. When placed under the chin, the scar sits in the natural crease and fades to nearly invisible.
Chin implant or chin filler: which is better?
Filler is temporary (about a year to eighteen months), non-surgical, and a good way to preview the change. An implant is permanent, gives more projection, and costs less over time. Many patients try filler first and then choose an implant.
How long is recovery after a chin implant?
Most patients are back at work within a week and exercising at two weeks. Swelling resolves over six to eight weeks.
Can a chin implant be done with a nose job?
Yes, and this is one of the most common combinations in facial surgery, because the chin and nose balance each other in profile. Doing both in one session means one anesthesia and one recovery.
How much does a chin implant cost in Georgia?
The cost of a chin implant depends on the implant and whether other procedures are combined. You will receive an all-inclusive written quote at your consultation, with no obligation.
Are chin implants safe?
Solid silicone facial implants have been used for decades and are cleared by the FDA. Risks such as infection or shifting are uncommon and are discussed at your consultation.
